Olive Oils Soap Ingredients
- 567 grams of Olive Oil
- 215 grams of distilled water
- 73 grams of Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)
- Essential Oils for Fragrance if required
- Silicon molds / other molds
- 1 plastic container and 2 glass containers
- A thermometer
- A large pot
- Immersion Blender
Precautions before Stepping in to Soap Making Process
- Wear goggles, gloves and long sleeves before making the soap to avoid any burns from lye that might occur sometimes i.e., when lye spills on you accidentally.
- Clean your skin with adequate amount of water if lye splashes on your skin. Don’t worry as it would melt your skin completely.
- If there are slight burns, apply aloevera gel and seek medical attention.
- If lye spills on your eyes, visit doctor immediately.
- Add lye crystals to the liquids you are using. But, do not add the liquids to the lye crystals and this is important step that you have to take while making the soap.
- Do not inhale the lye when added to liquids as it may take off your breath.
- Store lye in a tightly closed contained and keep it away from children and animals.

Olive Oil Soap Making
Step-1: Take olive oil to a plastic container and place it in a large pot. Pour hot tap water in to the pot so that container in the pot should start floating.
Step-2: Place the pot on the stove and heat it in the warm mode. Also insert a thermometer in to the olive oil container.
Step-3: Now, wear gloves, goggles and long sleeves for your safety and start the next process.
Step-4: Measure and take the specified amount of warm water that you heat on the pot in to a heat-safe glass container.
Step-5: Now, measure the lye crystals in to another glass container.
Step-6: Start adding the lye crystals in to the water slowly stirring with spatula.
Step-7: Insert a thermometer in to the lye and water mixture as it heats up quickly and monitor the temperatures of both the containers i.e., oil container and the lye mixture container. Allow both the mixtures to cool down to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. (If required, rise the stove burner high to increase the temperature or use cold water to bring down the temperature).
Step-8: Once the lye mixture and oil reaches the desired temperature as said above, pour the lye mixture in to the container with olive oil.
Step-9: Blend the mixture with immersion blender till the mixture gets thick for 2 to 5 minutes. Stop blending once you see dots dropping from the blender and stays on top for 1 to 2 seconds.
Step-10: Add essential oils to the mixture and stir the mixture until it is mixed well.
Step-11: Take the silicon mold or soap mold that is clean and dry. If you prefer a normal mold line it with a trash bag to avoid soap to stick to the mold.
Step-12: Pour the olive oil soap mixture in to the mold, and move it to safe place i.e., away from animals and kids.
Step-13: Leave the soap mold for 24 hours covering it with a plastic wrap or towel. You can also refrigerate the mold uncovered for 30 minutes and later wrap it loosely with plastic wrap and again refrigerate it overnight.
Step-14: After 48 hours, remove the soap from the mold and cut it in to bars.
Step-15: Allow the soap to cure for four to six weeks and that’s it, your olive oil soap is ready to use.
